PPA to build bulk handling facilities

State-run Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) said it will review policies on commercial port operations to accommodate potential investors who propose to operate bulk handling facility in Manila. In a statement, Juan Sta. Ana, PPA general manager, said the agency is preparing a strategic framework for the Manila Harbor development. “The strategic framework seeks to create additional space for hosting facilities that have not yet been made available in completed and/or proposed port projects in Metropolitan Manila without adding to the problem of congestion of ports,” Sta Ana said. Thee Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) has given the agency approval to reclaim potential sites to build bulk handling facilities. (November 3, 2010)
