Popularity of eco-cars growing at car rental firms
As eco-car sales soar after the Japanese government launched tax incentives for hybrids and other low-emission vehicles, car rental systems are also growing in popularity. For example, Nippon Rent-A-Car, which by last summer had increased its number of eco-cars five times to about 800, bought another 700 before the Silver Week holidays in September this year. “Many appear to be starving for new cars which are taking so long to deliver, people are renting them instead of going for test drives,” says the company’s public relations department.(October 13, 2009)
