PLN urged to be transparent in diesel fuel tenders

PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN), Indonesia’s state electricity company, was asked to be transparent in determining the criteria for companies appointed as winners of tenders for diesel fuel procurement. The request is made in response to the participation of PT Trans Pacific Petrochemical Indotama (TPPI) at the tenders. A member of the House Commission VII Dito Ganinduto questioned the participation of TPPI since the company still owed state oil company PT Pertamina US$600 million. The House, he warned, would conduct an investigation if TPPI won the tenders. As a money-losing company, TPPI was doubted to have the capacity to meet the fuel supply contract in the short or long term. (August 31, 2010)
