Philippines to offer diesel fuel discount cards
The government of the Philippines recently rolled out its “Pantawid Pasada” program, providing fuel discount cards to jeepney drivers and public transport operators. In response, Shell announced that it will provide fuel subsidy lanes at 200 of its gas stations in the Philippines. Pilipinas Shell Vice President for Communications Roberto Kanapi said the company will continue to support the government in providing assistance to the transport sector. Other subsidies may be in the works, in addition to this initial Php 450 million (US$10 million) subsidy program, according to the energy department. (May 4,2011)
