Philippines finalizes plan to provide fuel assistance
A press release from the Philippine Department of Energy stated that a fuel assistance program to aid in mitigating the impact of increasing global oil prices for the local public transport sector is due to come out soon. An Inter-agency Energy Contingency Committee (IECC) under the direction of the Department of Energy (DOE) is in the process of finalizing the guidelines, which will include information on the size of the fuel assistance and the eligibility of transport groups. No information is yet available on how the program will be funded. (March 29, 2011)
