Philippines’ DOST supports production of biofuel from used oil
The Philippines’ Department of Science and Technology (DOST) is assisting inventor Emiliano F. Quitiol (EFQ) in the pilot production of his invention which converts used cooking oil into biodiesel. DOST, through the Technology Application and Promotion Institute (TAPI), has extended financial assistance to Quitiol amounting to Php700,176 (US$15,552) for this project. DOST-TAPI’s assistance covers the fabrication cost of the equipment and working capital. EFQ’s BIOFUEL plant’s initial test run was held on April 28 at Panacan, Davao City. The plant can produce 60,000 liters of biofuel per month. (May 8, 2010)
