Peugeot breaks ground in Sanand, India

The leading French car maker PSA Peugeot Citroen recently broke ground in Sanand, India, as part of the company’s move to aggressively introduce its automotive brand outside of the eurozone. Peugeot said some of its products will be introduced in the New Delhi Auto Expo in January 2012, and it will roll out new cars from the plant in Sanand after its completion in 2014. With 46% of its global sales in 2010 and the first half of 2011 coming out of Europe, Peugeot had earmarked four main areas of development: India, Latin America, Russia and China. Construction of the Sanand Plant will cost Rs 4,000 crore (US$). (November 4, 2011)
