PetroVietnam setting up 3 additional ethanol plants

Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam), said that by the end of this year or early next year, it will operate three ethanol production plants which will have a combined capacity of 300,000 cubic meters. According to the state-run company’s General Director, Do Van Hau, the plants will require a total investment of US$270 million and are now under construction in the northern province of Phu Tho, the central province of Quang Ngai, and the southern province of Binh Phuoc. Once operational, the facilities will produce biofuels such as E5, B5, E10 and B7. A draft passed by the Ministry of Industry and Trade calls for the nationwide compulsory use of bio-gasoline E5 starting January 1, 2015. (October 14, 2011)
