Petron to double capacity of Limay refinery
The Philippines’ largest oil refinery, Petron Corp., has partnered with five foreign companies, Axens, UOP LLC, CB&I Lummus, Foster Wheeler AG and Daelim Industrial, to double the capacity of its Limay, Bataan, refinery. The US$1.8 billion phase 2 refinery upgrade should be completed by the end of 2014. The refinery currently has a capacity of 180,000 barrels per day. Petron said doubling its refinery’s complexity would enable it to compete more effectively with other refineries in the Asia-Pacific region. The expanded refinery will also help the company to produce Euro V-compliant fuels. (April 7,2011)
