Petron to construct South Cotabato's refueling facility

Petron Corp. is investing around P5 million (US$113,636) to construct a refueling facility in partnership with the provincial government of South Cotabato in the Philippines.
Roman Escanio, Petron’s network development executive, said construction of the facility is happening in a lot owned by the local government in Barangay Morales in Koronadal City.
He said the refueling station project is being implemented under the company’s micro-filling or Bulilit Station program.
The Petron Bulilit Station is an easy-to-build gasoline station that can start with two to three product pumps and is considered a more financially viable alternative, yet equally sustainable business model, for micro-entrepreneurs, a project brief said.
He said the Bulilit business is mainly a retail operation that includes buying, storing and reselling Petron’s premium petroleum products such as fuels, lubricants, liquefied petroleum gas and other specialty products.
Escanio said the provincial government of South Cotabato is so far the first local government unit (LGU) in the country that has agreed to participate in the program.
“This project is one of a kind and we’re hoping that other LGUs will later consider taking part in a similar venture with us,” he said.
Escanio said they did not hesitate to approve S. Cotabato’s proposal to participate because of its positive record in terms of governance.
