Petrolimex re-exports acetone-laced gasoline
Vietnam National Petroleum Import-Export Corporation (Petrolimex) re-exported in October a total of 16.2 million liters of A95 petrol blended with acetone to Singapore, after the fuel caused a slew of complaints from consumers who claimed that their cars or motorcycles were damaged by the gasoline. To date, Petrolimex has compensated 20 consumers in amounts ranging from VND0.4 to 4 million (US$25-250). (October 5, 2006)
