PetroChina starts new refinery in North China
PetroChina will start operating a 60,000 barrel per day (bpd) refinery in northern Gansu province in September, the second new plant to be added by the company this year. The plant, in the landlocked city of Qingyang, will include a 1.6 million ton per year (MTPY) fluid catalytic cracker and a 1.2 MTPY diesel hydrotreating unit. PetroChina built the new small plant after it mothballed three smaller ones in the adjacent regions. The new plant, close to PetroChina’s Changqing oilfield, will make gasoline and diesel fuel meeting the requirements for national standards III and IV. (August 25, 2010)
