PetroChina launches Lanzhou-Zhengzhou pipeline

PetroChina Co. Ltd. has started operating a 1,188 kilometer (km) long oil product pipeline segment running from Lanzhou in north-western Gansu province to Zhengzhou in central China’s Henan province. The Lanzhou-Zhengzhou pipeline is only one part of the 2,070 km Lanzhou-Zhengzhou-Changsha pipeline, China’s ‘s biggest refined oil pipeline project.The Zhengzhou-Changsha segment is expected to be ready for operation by the end of June and will have an annual transportation capacity of 15 million tons. The pipeline, media reports said, is important for the country to establish a regional network for the supply of petroleum products in China’s northwest region and for the state to achieve its 11th Five Year Plan target of constructing new pipelines with an annual transportation capacity of 84 million tons.
