Pertamina to build 2 greenfield refineries

Heru Sutrisno, senior vice president for business development, said Pertamina plans to build two greenfield refineries in Indonesia by 2015-2017, and is seeking to buy refinery assets to boost the security of its domestic supplies. “The challenge is how to fulfill our domestic demand requirements, particularly for gasoline and diesel,” he said. Sutrisno declined to provide details of the new refineries or the possible joint venture partners, but said the company had identified some potential acquisitions. Indonesia, Asia’s biggest gasoline importer, has nine oil refineries with a combined capacity of 1 million barrels per day (bpd). About 30% of the country’s oil products are imported.
