Pertamina shuts down hydrocracking unit at Balikpapan for maintenance
PT Pertamina, Indonesia’s state-owned oil and gas company, has shut down its 27,500 barrel-per-day (bpd) hydrocracking unit (HCU) in Balikpapan for a 21-day scheduled maintenance starting November 19. According to a report by Platts, the maintenance shutdown, which was originally scheduled for October, was delayed to November due to an unexpected shutdown at the plant’s second HCU.
Balikpapan has a total refining capacity of 260,000 bpd, with two crude distillation units: one producing 60,000 bpd and the other, 200,000 bpd. The two HCUs, each with 27,500 bpd capacity, produce naphtha, kerosene, jet fuel and gasoil, for local consumption of the entire Kalimantan area. (November 23, 2012)
