Pertamina sets lower fuel oil targets for 2012

The state-owned Indonesian oil and gas company, PT Pertamina, has set a lower goal for fuel oil sales in 2012, at 57.05 million kiloliters. The figure is lower than actual sales in 2011, which reached 41.69 million kiloliters of subsidized fuels, and 19.35 million kiloliters of non-subsidized fuels. Pertamina Marketing and Commercial Director Djaelani Sutomo said the goal for subsidized fuel oil sales for 2012 is low because the government will limit the use of subsidized fuels starting April. Djaelani explained that the target for non-subsidized fuel oil sale for 2012 is lower because of the target purchase of fuel oil from PLN, the state-owned electricity company, is 7.9 million kiloliters, 30% lower than 2010 levels. Several thermal power plants of PLN will start operations this year. (February 17, 2012)
