Pertamina seeks to increase subsidized fuel quota
Indonesian state oil firm PT Pertamina has asked for a 2 million kiloliter increase in the subsidized fuel quota to due to fuel shortages in parts of the country. Pertamina forecasts that the country’s subsidized fuel consumption will reach 40.5 million kiloliters by the end of 2011. The company has proposed the increase in the quota to the Downstream Oil and Gas regulatory body, BPH Migas. BPH Migas will present the proposal to the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry. The Ministry had released figures earlier this year which showed subsidized fuel consumption potentially reaching 41.42 million tons, compared to the 38.6 million ton quota set by the 2011 state budget.
