Pertamina pushes for expansion of lube market share in Japan
PT Pertamina, Indonesia’s state-owned oil company, recently held a gathering for Japanese lubricants consumers, where its President and Director, Karen Agustiawan, declared the company’s vision to be a world-class energy company that integrates upstream and downstream business, including its lubricant business.
“Pertamina lubricants market covers domestic and foreign consumers. We dominate more than 54% of the domestic market. Since July 2008, Pertamina lubricant has been exported to many countries such as Australia, UAE, China, Singapore, Myanmar and Pakistan,” she said.
In Japan, Pertamina operates through its exclusive distributor Inoa Shouji. Together, the two companies supply lubricants to the 10 branches of NAFCO Department Store located in Southern Japan.
Agustiawan reiterated that Pertamina employs very strict total quality control in the production of their lubricants. Its products have passed the international quality standards set by the API in the U.S.A., ACEA in Europe and JASO in Japan. The products are also certified by automotive manufacturers such as Mercedes Benz, Volvo, Toyota, Caterpillar and Komatsu. (October 10, 2012)
