Pakistan's Indus Refinery to build new plant
Indus Refinery Limited plans to build a 93,000 barrel-per-day (BPD) refinery, which would represent the first addition to Pakistan’s processing capacity since the start of the decade. It will also be the most technologically advanced refinery in Pakistan. IRL expects the facility to go on stream at the FOTCO jetty near the southern port town of Karachi before the end of 2008, IRL Chairman Mohammad Sohail Shamsi said. The project will be the first major expansion of Pakistan’s refining sector since Pak-Arab Refinery started up its 93,000 BPD plant in 2000. It will also be the first of as many as four separate refinery projects slated to start up in Pakistan
