Pakistan could save money by promoting biodiesel
The Pakistan government could save up to Rs1.6 billion (US$20.3 million) by promoting biodiesel technology, while blending of ethanol could further save US$500 million, according to Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited (ZTBL) President Zaka Ashraf. “(Pakistan) President Zardari is showing keen interest in alternate sources of energy to minimize the heavy import bill of US$11 billion per year,” Ashraf opined. A technical subcommittee on blending ethanol for motor vehicles and biofuel technology earlier held a meeting, headed by Ashraf, to discuss the technical aspects of this vital alternative to gasoline.
