OriginOil introduces real-time control network for algae harvesting
OriginOil, Inc. (OOIL) announced that it has developed a real-time control network which will supervise continuous algae harvesting operations in large algae production sites. The company is an emerging leader in the global algae oil services industry. It has also developed a breakthrough technology that extracts oil from algae. “Anyone harvesting algae at large scale has to deal with literally hundreds of variables in real time,” said Paul Reep, OOIL’s senior vice president of technology. “That’s why we built this dynamic system that can adjust harvest settings on the fly.” The new network will be installed in Australia, at the MBD Energy power plant test site. The system will interface with MBD’s own growth control system. This will integrate operations with Single Step Extraction™ as well as downstream concentration and separation processes.(August 4, 2011)
