Opcon and CoGen cooperate for waste heat power

Swedish energy and environmental technology group Opcon AB has signed a cooperation agreement with Australian CoGen Power (CoGen). The two companies agreed to sell and marketing the Opcon Powerbox, which produces CO2-free electricity from waste heat, throughout Australia. CCoGen’s aim is to install a minimum of 170 megawatts (MW) of this zero fuel, zero emission generation capacity within five years. Its target market consists of mines and remote regional centers and communities, the majority being supplied by onsite, fossil fuel electricity generation systems where fuel only costs for electricity production amounts to A$0.32 (US$.23)per kilowatt hour (kWh). “With a waste heat recovery system installed recovering mega watts (MW) of otherwise lost thermal energy using the Opcon Powerbox, CoGen is bringing new zero fuel, zero emission electricity to Australia. The business area comprises the following subsidiaries: Svenska Rotor Maskiner (SRM), Opcon Energy Systems (OES), REF Technology, Svensk Rökgasenergi (SRE), Värmlands Montage Teknik and the trademarks Opcon Autorotor and Mitec Instrument,” the company said in a statement.
