Oil firm eyes Taguig for new biofuels center
Philippine independent oil firm Flying V has agreed with the Technological University of the Philippines (TUP) to establish another biofuels research center in Taguig within the year. The research center aims to establish and maintain a database, a library, and several testing facilities for research on biofuels. Flying V spokesperson Paul S. Tanjutco said preparations were under way for the center’s first project, which is the testing of a 20% blend of coconut methyl ester with regular diesel fuel. This will be the second biofuels center to be put up by Flying V, the first being at the Philippine Coconut Authority compound in Quezon City. (June 1, 2007)
