Officials raid depots of IOC, HPCL and BPCL
India’s Legal Metrology department and other officials raided three companies and seized and sealed lubricants without manufacturing dates. According to the Controller of Legal Metrology, Vishwas Naik, the joint raid was conducted by officials from South and North Goa on the Indian Oil and Hindustan Petroleum depot at Vasco and the Bharat Petroleum depot at Verna.
“The raiding team sealed different types of lubricants packed in different packages ranging from one liter cans to 210 liter barrels. They included 2,660 tins/ barrels from IOC, 430 tins/barrels from Bharat Petroleum and 10,536 tins/ barrels from HP,” Naik said.
The raid was the second within a week, following another raid by the Legal Metrology at Verna where electrical items worth Rs 35 lakh (US$64,000) were seized in early November. (November 10, 2012)
