Offering 40% fuel economy improvement, Nissan to launch next-generation Note in September
Japan’s Nissan Motor Co. unveiled the next-generation Note, which offers a 40% improvement on fuel efficiency due to engine downsizing. The new Note will be available in September and will be made by subsidiary Nissan Motor Kyushu Co.
The new model will be the first mass-produced subcompact in Japan with a smaller, more fuel-efficient engine. The Note’s slimmed-down engine, which has been reduced from 1,500cc to 1,200cc, comes with a supercharger. The current Note gets 18km per liter, but the new model will travel 25.2km per liter, thanks also to its continuously variable transmission. The supercharger helps maintain acceleration performance.
“The new Note will rack up sales of more than 350,000 units a year and play a major role in achieving our mid-term business plans,” Chief Operating Officer Toshiyuki Shiga said.
