Number of fuel stations in Singapore drop
After reaching a peak of 222 four years ago, the number of petrol stations in Singapore is dwindling. Market leader ExxonMobil, which had 80 Esso and Mobil stations in 2003, has 74 today. It is all part of a business rationalization process we undergo constantly, said ExxonMobil Regional Retail Manager Vincent Chong, who added that buyers may not necessarily be from the oil industry. Shell stations that were closed recently included Novena, Tanglin, Rochor and Katong, most of them because they did not meet new security guidelines. (August 2, 2007)
