Novozymes to increase bioethanol capacity

Danish group Novozymes has opened an extension to its fermentation unit in Suzhou, China, thereby increasing its bioethanol capacities. The factory, Suzhou Hongda Enzymes Co., has continued growing since its 2005 launch and its workforce has more than tripled. Novozymes dominates the world industrial enzymes market. In China, it has factories in Tianjin and Suzhou and a research and development center in Beijing. Technical enzymes for bioethanol account for 13% of its overall sales and the group wants to increase its sales in this sector by 20-25% over the next four years. (December 1, 2008)
