Nizhny Novgorod produces first Euro 4 gasoline

The Nizhny Novgorod refinery, a member of the Russian Lukoil Group, has begun manufacturing Euro 4 compliant automobile gasoline. This achievement was made possible by a catalytic cracking complex, which was commissioned in December 2010. The investments in the project came to a total of 30.3 billion rubles (US$996.57 million). The new complex will allow the Nizhny Novgorod refinery to increase its production rate from 1.8 million tons to 3.2 million tons per year for gasoline. For diesel fuel, the production rate will increase from 4.2 million tons to 4.6 million tons annually. (December 29, 2010)
