Nissan unveils new fuel-efficient Micra
Nissan Motor Co. unveiled its new fuel-efficient Micra compact car, known as ”March” in Japan, which it says will produce the least amount of carbon dioxide for a car in its segment. Initially, the vehicle’s new three-cylinder engine and other innovations will limit its carbon dioxide emissions to only 115 grams on average per kilometer (km). Within six months of its European launch, which is slated for November, Nissan will further slash the Micra’s CO2 emissions to an average 95 grams per km when it adds a version fitted with a supercharger and a start-stop system. Nissan expects to sell up to one million vehicles that will incorporate this platform per year by 2013. The vehicle will be produced in Thailand, India, Mexico and China, Nissan said. (March 3, 2010)
