Nissan to shift production of small car to Thailand

Nissan Motor Co. said it plans to transfer production of its March super-mini car from Japan to Thailand, where tax incentives are available for the production of eco-friendly cars. It expects to reduce production costs by 30% by procuring local parts. The report follows Nissan’s decision to shift production of the Micra, the March’s overseas version, from Britain to India when the new edition comes out in 2010. (February 2, 2009)
