Nissan launches diesel-powered Micra

Nissan has launched a diesel-powered variant of its Micra small-car model in India, according to the Hindu Daily. The company will start deliveries of the model from December onwards and has priced the model at between Rs520,000 and Rs620,000 (US$11,571 and US$13,796). The company will launch nine models in the market by 2012, which will include three completely built-up (CBU) models; a passenger utility vehicle, as part of a joint venture (JV) with Ashok Leyland; and a small car positioned below the Micra, as part of a JV with Bajaj. Nissan will invest around Rs45 billion (US$1 billion) during the next seven years in India, with a planned capacity of around 400,000 units per annum by 2017. (November 26, 2010)
