Nissan, Ford to cut vehicle production in N. America

The earthquake and tsunami in Japan has far reaching consequences, as both Japanese automaker Nissan Motor Co. and American automaker Ford Motor Co. announced they are forced to cut vehicle production in North America due to the inability to get needed parts for production. The disaster in Japan has disrupted the automakers’ parts supply network. Honda Motor Co. and General Motors have already announced reductions in vehicle production due to the same issue. The reductions will bring to a halt three Nissan plants in the U.S. for six days and two Mexican plants for five days. (April 2,2011)
