NIE, Labland Biotechs sign MoU

The National Institute of Engineering (NIE) in Mysore, India, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Labland Biotechs, a plant biotechnology company, to carry out research and development activities on jatropha-based biodiesel. As part of the MoU, which was signed between NIE’s Centre for Research and Consultancy (CRC) and Labland Biotechs, a bio-energy park will be set up on a six-acre plot of the NIE Foundation at Koorgalli on the outskirts of Mysore. Apart from carrying out research and development, the two organizations will also set up an educational and training center. (January 25, 2007)
