NexLube Operating LLC builds used oil recycling facility in Florida
NexLube Operating LLC is constructing a re-refinery in Tampa, Florida, that would recycle used engine oil, a fairly rare achievement as only eight such plants currently operate in the United States. The US$85 million refinery will have an annual capacity of 24 million gallons, and construction is expected to be finished 18 months from now. The company is also looking for more opportunities to build similar plants in Texas and other states. Monte Bell, president of NexLube Operating LLC, said the plant was built in Florida primarily because the state collects much used oil; however, there are no re-refineries in the state and Florida has a port, access to rail and a highway. Bell added that the company also plans to develop its own brand of finished lubricants. (June 29, 2012)
