New fuel ethanol guidelines come into force
As per new guidelines issued by the Department of Energy (DoE) for anhydrous ethanol fuel, only ethanol conforming to the Philippine National Standard will now qualify for the Fuel Ethanol Program, the DoE has announced. According to the new guidelines that came into effect on January 1, 2007, it is now mandatory for fuel ethanol to have a dark violet color so as to differentiate it from other gasoline blends and from ethanol used for beverages.
