Neste Oil to expand raw material base for NexBTL
Finland’s Neste Oil said it will expand its raw material base for NExBTL renewable fuel with jatropha and camelina oils. The introduction of the new raw materials in the feedstock base will allow Neste Oil to increase the percentage of raw materials that can be grown on land not suited for food production. In 2011, the proportion of crude palm oil as feedstock is expected to be less than 50% of the total bio-based raw materials used in the production of NexBTL. According to the company, currently about 80% of the company’s R&D costs are directed to researching renewable raw materials. (July 14, 2011)
