Nepal slashes fuel and gas prices

Nepal has slashed the rates of cooking gas or liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), petrol, diesel and kerosene to adjust the prices of international market. Similarly, the government has fixed the price of per LPG cylinder at 1,150 rupees (US$14.87) each by slashing 50 rupees (US$0.64) for Kathmandu, while 1,130 rupees (US$14.61) have been fixed as a price of each LPG cylinder in the Terai districts. The NOC has fixed the aviation fuel price at US$1,000 per kiloliter by reducing US$200 from the prevailing international price at US$1,200 per kiloliter. For domestic flight, the aviation fuel price has been fixed at 85 rupees (US$1.10) per liter after reducing five rupees (US$0.064). (December 27, 2008)
