Nepal Oil reaches agreement to end strike of petroleum transporters
State-owned Nepal Oil Corp. (NOC) has managed to end a three-week strike in Katmandu by two of the country’s association of petroleum transporters who demanded a particular route to deliver petroleum products. The groups were in dispute with NOC over the company’s June 20 decision to relocate 60 tankers on the Raxaul-Kathmandu route from the Barauni-Amlekhgunj route. The agreement will relocate 50 tankers on the Raxaul-Kathmandu route and 10 tankers on either the Raxaul-Amlekhgunj route or Barauni-Amlekhgunj route. The route of the 10 tankers will be fixed within one year. (July 7, 2011)
