NEA steps up efforts on fuel efficiency labels
Singapore’s National Environment Agency (NEA) has issued letters to six car dealers who have either failed to display or displayed incorrect labels on new cars under the mandatory fuel economy labeling scheme. This follows more than 300 visits by NEA officers to various motor vehicle showrooms across Singapore. The agency launched the scheme in April last year to enable buyers to compare the fuel consumption of vehicles of similar engine capacity. Second-hand vehicles are not required by law to display these labels. (August 16, 2010)
