Myriant and Day Process Technology reach agreement over succinic acid
U.S.-based succinic acid producer Myriant Technologies and U.K.-based Davy Process Technology have come to an agreement over succinic acid. The agreement covers the non-exclusive testing and approval for using Myraint’s succinic acid as a feedstock for Davy’s production of butanediol, tetrahydrofuran and gamma-butyrolactone. The agreement also allows for the integration of Myriant’s bio-succinic acid technology to be used to minimize the cost and recovery and purification of succinic acid for the production of bio-butanediol. Myriant is constructing the world’s first commercial bio-based succinic acid plant in Lake Providence, Louisiana. (February 21, 2011)
