Mundra port signs agreement with NYK, Wallenius
India’s Mundra Port & Special Economic Zone Ltd. said it signed a memorandum of understanding with Japan’s NYK Line and Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics of Norway to establish a dedicated automobile terminal at the west coast port. “Mundra port is set to become a hub for handling automobiles because of its proximity to major auto manufacturers in the north and west India,” the Indian company said in a release, announcing the new venture. Japanese automakers Nissan and Maruti Suzuki, part of Suzuki Motors, will start exporting vehicles through Mundra, primarily to Europe, in January. (November 24, 2008)
