MRPL to boost refining capacity
India’s Mangalore Refineries and Petrochemicals Ltd. (MRPL) plans to increase refining capacity to 18 million tons and then to 21 million tons within six years, according to MRPL Managing Director P.P. Upadhya.
“We also wish to make more upstream products, particularly linear alkylbenzenes, for which we are constructing a US$461 million facility,” he said.
Upadhya said a separate company is being promoted by ONGC and MRPL for implementing the aromatic complex at a cost of US$1.1 billion to produce value added products such as benzene and paraxylene, using heavy naphtha as feed stock from MRPL.
