M&M finds stumbling block with TR40 in U.S. market

Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) has been attempting to enter the U.S. automotive market with its TR40 light pick-up truck. The company has hit a major roadblock with the debut over fuel economy. According to the company, the truck has a 30 mpg which would place it in league with other light trucks in the U.S. Market, such as the Toyota Tacoma and the Ford F150. According to U.S. Reports, the light truck has an American fuel economy rating of 19 mpg in the city and 21 mpg on highways. M&M officials say the fuel economy stats look worse than it is due to a new method being used by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to calculate mileage. (February 22, 2011)
