Mitsui to produce bioethanol in Malaysia
Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding Co. plans to launch commercial production of bioethanol in Malaysia as early as the summer of 2013, in partnership with local palm oil producer Sime Darby. A test facility at an oil production facility in Kuala Lumpur will be set up next year to produce ethanol out of 1.25 tons of coconut husks a day. Sime Darby officials said the plant would cost about US$10 million. (December 28, 2010)
