Mitsui Chemicals to double capacity

Mitsui Chemicals Inc. said it will double its Singapore unit’s output capacity of polyolefin elastomer to 200,000 metric tons a year in 2009 by setting up a new production line there. The Japanese company said the capacity hike mainly aims to meet rising demand from Asia. The new line, which will be built at Mitsui Elastomers Singapore, is scheduled for completion in August 2009. The value of the investment will be about Â¥19 billion (US$155.6 million). With the additional capacity, Mitsui Chemicals’ overall output capacity of polyolefin elastomer will be 250,000 tons a year.
