Mitsubishi opens Australia’s first electric vehicle charging station

Mitsubishi opened the first public electric vehicle (EV) charging station in Australia’s Queensland. The new charging station at the Village Green on Mons was installed in conjunction with both the JKM Trust and Coulomb Technologies. Environment Minister Vicky Darling was on hand for the opening of the new ChargePoint facility. Queensland is looking at the use of electric vehicles in an effort to reduce vehicle emissions. Mitsubishi is one of the first automotive makers to offer commercial sales of electric cars in Australia. The company began selling its i-MiEV electric cars in Australia in March 2010.
