Mitsubishi Fuso releases enhanced Canter

Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corp. (MFTBC), one of Asia’s leading commercial vehicle manufacturers, has launched an enhanced version of the Canter Eco Hybrid light-duty truck, which the company touts is at par with other top-level trucks of its kind in Japan. First released in July 2006, the Canter Eco Hybrid with its parallel hybrid system significantly reduces fuel consumption and emissions. By optimizing the hybrid control program, fuel economy has improved to about 11 kilometers per liter (kpl). For three-ton versions, the fuel economy level is about 10 kpl. The new Canter Eco Hybrid complies with Japan’s forthcoming ‘”Safety Standard for Passenger Protection from High Voltage”, which will be mandated for vehicles to be manufactured starting July 1, 2012. In addition, the shape of the side-turn lamp has been changed to comply with Japan’s new lamp/lighting equipment regulations. (April 20, 2009)
