Mission NewEnergy to construct major waste material processing facility in Sandakan

Mission NewEnergy announced that it will begin construction of a major waste material processing facility in Sandakan, Sabah, Malaysia. The new facility will be the first of its kind in the region and will be geared towards the recovery of palm oil from waste material generated in the palm oil refining process. Called Spent Bleached Earth (SBE), the waste material previously had no industrial purpose, but MissionEnergy said it will begin producing biodiesel from SBE. This will result in bigger margins for the company, which plans to start construction of the 66,000 ton per annum SBE Solvent Extraction Facility by January 2012. The plant is expected to be fully operational by September 2012. The facility will cost RM30 million (US$9.4 million) which will be funded with equity and a loan from a Malaysian bank.
