Mission announces Asia’s 1st fully integrated palm biodiesel supply chain
Mission NewEnergy announced that the company has signed an agreement with Felda Global Group to establish a fully integrated International Sustainability & Carbon Certification System (ISCC) certified palm biodiesel supply and production chain. Felda Global Group, in conjunction with Mission, has completed ISCC certification of two of its mills and eight plantations in Malaysia. The two companies plan to obtain ISCC certification for all the Felda mills and plantations, expanding the supply of ISCC-certified biodiesel for Mission’s refineries. Nathan Mahalingam, group CEO of Mission, said, “Mission and Felda’s certification constitute full supply chain carbon emissions reporting to demonstrate compliance with German and European GHG savings targets.” Dato Sabri Ahman of Felda Global Group said in a recent press release that, “The certification underscores Felda’s sustainability practices. Given that the Felda Global Group is pushing ahead aggressively into biofuels, the ISCC provides the Group with the edge to compete in the international market. Apart from meeting many requirements for Roundtable for Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) certification, the ISCC certification also complies with the European Union’s Renewable Energy Directive (RED).” ISCC certification is required for any company who wishes to supply biofuel to Germany, the largest biofuel market in the EU.
