Ministry of Energy, Agriculture sign energy MoU

Thailand’s Energy and Agriculture ministries signed an agreement for the joint promotion of alternative energy. The pact includes human resources, data management and research and development in a bid to achieve the country’s 15-year alternative-energy development plan. Thailand plans to produce 600,000 tons per year of biodiesel from palm oil by next year and 1.1 million tons by 2022. Production of ethanol from tapioca will rise from 1.5 million tons per annum next year to 9 million tons by 2022.  (March 11, 2010)
